Submitted by PHS Drama

The PHS Drama Department is presenting their spring one-act, The Lightning Thief, this weekend at the PHS Performing Arts Center.

The Lightning Thief, based on the best-selling 2005 children’s book by Rick Riordan, tells the story of a young demigod named Percy Jackson. When the show opens, we meet a young misfit named Percy Jackson, played by Carter Moore, who discovers that he is actually a demigod. As Percy learns more about himself and his lineage, he is sent on a quest of self-discovery that helps him realize his full potential. Along with his faithful companions Annabeth, played by Haley Cagle, and Grover, played by Olivia Moseman, they strive to find the lost bolt of Zeus, but uncover a more sinister plot along the way that has ramifications for mortals and Gods alike.

Complete with a cast of quirky characters like Mr. D, played by Michael Smith, Clarisse LaRue, played by Sydney Wolfe, Chiron, played by Dallas Colley, Sally Jackson, played by Emmalyn Archer and many others, The Lightning Thief is a family-friendly adventure for all ages! The shows are this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. as well as Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students and $12 for adults and can be bought at www.pickensperformingarts.com
