Pickens Coin Club’s fall show coming Sept. 17

Coin collectors, buyers and those who are simply curious will find themselves immersed in all facets of the hobby at the Fall Coin Show in Jasper on Sept. 17, 2022.

“Learning about coins from the United States and around the world is a non-stop lesson in history, how our free market operates and the people involved have all sorts of approaches and personalities in what they collect,” said Chris Paire of Canton, president of the Pickens County Coin Club which hosts the coin show twice each year. “It is much more than simply collecting; it is a great way to meet people and to build something of value for the future.”

The Fall Coin Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Amicalola Electric Membership Corporation Dean Center (544 Georgia-515, Jasper, Ga. 30143). The event and parking are free, security is provided, and all ages are welcome and encouraged to come and learn about coin collecting. The show features coins wanted by collectors and is a great place for buying and selling coins. Small appraisals are available for free.

Attendees will find offerings of U.S. coins, foreign coins, currency, mint and proof sets, historical items and gold and silver bullion.

“The demand for silver is up although the price is down at the moment, so it’s a good time to pick up some silver if you are in the market for it,” said Paire. “That usually comes in the form of American Silver Eagles or pre-1965 U.S. half-dollars, quarters and dimes.”

Dealer tables are $35 for members and $45 for non-members. Contact Coin Club Vice President Phillip Reece at pdrnumis@windstream.net or 706-260-7053 to sign up for a table.

The Pickens County Coin Club is a well-established group of collectors from northwest Georgia and meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Dean Center. Auctions start at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are free and all are welcome. Members can submit items for auctions. Annual membership is $10.  More information is available on Facebook: Pickens County Coin Club – Jasper, Georgia
