Wonderful Summer morning for the Farmers Market and lemonade! Be sure and get a cup of luscious lemonade from the little lemonade ladies. You can’t miss all the lemon decorations at their table.
Last weekend, the fifth of July, found the market at the back of Lee Newton Park so it was nice to be back to the normal space of the Park N Ride parking lot across from the Veterans Memorial this past Saturday. And new vendors keep arriving like Look What Kittie Did with resin housewares and macrame.
The Gilmore Guys brought their native plants offering education in the power that native plants bring to our ecology. The Pickens County Master Gardeners Extension Volunteers (that’s a mouthful) set up their education tent to help educate about gardening here and offered many home grown plants to willing customers.
Part of what the MGs do is education and demonstration. To that end the MGs offered their second Work in Progress Garden Tour while the Farmers Market was happening from 8 – 10 a.m. at the Extension Office, 68 D.B. Carroll Street. Three people came for a tour and were offered information about what Master Gardeners do and how to be involved. With the heat being so hot, it was decided that the morning was better for tours and will be happening again next month, August 9th. (Same bat channel, same bat time…as it were.) The MG education tent goes up the second Saturday each month through October and Work in Progress Tours will continue as well with the weather’s cooperation.
The veggies and fruits are filling up vendors’ tables, so be sure to get the best local produce from our FM vendors. And Wednesday’s FM is 11 am until 1pm if you need a refill. Don’t forget all the delicious breads, bagels, cookies, muffins, pies, etc. If you need a gift the FM is a wonderful place to shop! You will also find personal care products, home decor, and more. Every week brings many choices of items that you may need or want and the Jasper Farmers Market vendors welcome you!
