Tater Patch Players will ring in the holidays with laughter

Submitted by Tater Patch Players

Would you like to see a Christmas pageant? How about a Christmas mystery?   Or maybe a comedy will be what gets you in the holiday spirit. Tater Patch Players is rehearsing right now to bring you all three in one delightful play. The Charitable Sisterhood Christmas Spectacular  by Bo Wilson is a show that will entertain and charm you on many levels. You’ll laugh at the ladies of the Second Trinity Victory Church as they struggle to organize their annual Christmas  pageant with only two weeks left. There are plenty of pitfalls for them to overcome.  The greatest challenge, though,   is finding out who stole the Baby Jesus from their life-size Nativity.  Everyone has an opinion about who did it.  One of the ladies, Bea, is so sure she knows who is responsible she sets out on her own to reveal the culprit. Needless to say, she is not a Sherlock Holmes, so her efforts make for more comedy than mystery.

Beyond this story line, there are many more entertaining scenes. You’ll hear a trailer park holiday tale.  There are glimpses of the chaos behind the scenes, in the church basement. You will be introduced to zany characters galore, including the scheming pastor’s wife from the other church in town who shows up to report the  disappearance of their Nativity’s Joseph.

The staging is ingeniously  handled by Director  Jan Simpson. She and the cast cleverly show you how the short-handed sisterhood managed to have two actresses play six different parts. The clever set and props, created by the talented Tater Patch scenery crew, are an endless delight. There are so many fun characters and scenes in this play, that laughter is guaranteed.   While the show  is   hilarious, amid the mysteries and the antics, there is also a genuine  Christmas message. All of that makes  The Charitable Sisterhood Christmas Spectacular a great show for you and all your holiday guests to see.

There will be performances on November 26, 27, 28 and December 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, and 12. The Sunday shows are at 2 p.m. and the rest are at 7:30. Tickets are available online at  www.taterpatchplayers.org  anytime or at the box office beginning one hour before curtain time on each performance dates. The cost is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, and $16 for students. Please watch for more info on the show in the days ahead and call (706-023-2800) or email (taterpatchplayers@gmail.com) with any questions.
