TDS fiber expansion project in areas of Pickens, north Cherokee now complete

Fast and reliable fiber network connections now available to all addresses

TDS Telecom’s fiber network expansion in Nelson, Marble Hill, and Ball Ground, Ga. is now complete. The private investment project means more than 2,800 addresses across these communities now have access to a fiber-to-the-premises connection.

Residential customers can choose up to 1Gig symmetrical speeds, businesses gain up to 10Gig dedicated connections.

“The installation of a state-of-the-art infrastructure takes time, but residents will find it’s well worth the wait,” says TDS Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Andrew Petersen. “Now everyone can reap the benefits of these high-speed connections that deliver a fantastic online experience no matter what you want and need to do online.”

TDS broke ground on the project last summer. The work included hanging cable as well as laying underground fiber in easement areas and upgrading equipment cabinets in the community.

Included in the company’s new speed options is an offering for Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) participants. Called TDS Connect, the product includes up to 200Mbps/200Mbps speeds at a cost that is fully covered by the monthly ACP benefit.

“The Affordable Connectivity Program is a vital tool customers should absolutely leverage to stay connected to the internet,” says Petersen. “We encourage anyone in need of financial assistance to check to see if they qualify for this benefit.”

Beyond the company’s Nelson-area project, TDS is also working on a fiber project impacting 1,300 addresses in Blue Ridge.

TDS has been a local provider in Nelson, Marble Hill, and Ball Ground for 34 years. Residents can visit tdstelecom. com or call 1-888- 225-5837 for more information.
